Open-ice hitting has become a rarity in today's game, but some players still go at it when the opportunity presents itself. Matt Dumba caught Evgeny Kuznetsov in a weak spot and he absolutely rocked him.
Obviously, the Caps' reacted the moment it happened, the 4 other players wearing white jerseys jumped on Dumba and T.J. Oshie eventually dropped the gloves in retaliation for the hit on their star player.
Many Capitals fans weren't happy and they were calling for a suspension on the play. However, with the league's latest reasoning, it's become quite unclear as to what was and what wasn't worthy of a suspension.
Are they calling for a suspension because they just hurt one of their top forwards? Or because this hit was dirty?
