Carter Hart signs a new contract despite the accusations
Former Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Carter Hart is reportedly going to be signing overseas. The member of the infamous 2018 World Junior National Team for Canada, who was placed on indefinite leave after being involved in a scandal taking place in June of that year, was not qualified by the Flyers following the end of the 2023-24 season and became a free agent. Dillon Dubé, another player involved in the scandal, was released by the Calgary Flames and subsequently signed with Dinamo Minsk of the KHL.
It seems highly unlikely that any of the players involved in the scandal will ever play in the NHL again. The KHL has had a reputation for signing controversial players who had been ousted from the NHL, such as Brendan Leipsic or Alex Galchenyuk.
Some reports are currently suggesting that Hart may be headed to Belarus with the Dinamo Minsk alongside Dubé, while also suggesting the possibility of another KHL team, Ak Bars Kazan, expressing interest.
According to the same report, however, Hart may be prevented from signing with Minsk due to Dube already having signed with the club. He remains a free agent and time will tell as to where the former star goaltender will take his playing career.
