The full story finally revealed
In a police interview, Sean Higgins described how the tragic incident unfolded. According to the criminal complaint obtained by The Post, Higgins was driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee northbound behind a sedan and an SUV.
Frustrated by the slower-moving vehicles, he decided to pass them by moving into the southbound lanes. After successfully overtaking the sedan, Higgins attempted to reenter the northbound lane. However, as the SUV in front of him shifted towards the center of the road to safely pass cyclists on the right, Higgins tried to maneuver around the SUV on the right side, striking the Gaudreau brothers from behind.
Higgins admitted to police that he believed the SUV was intentionally blocking his path, and he acknowledged that his alcohol consumption worsened his frustration and impatience, leading to the fatal crash.
In the end, to get home possibly two minutes earlier, Higgins took two men, two sons, two brothers, two husbands and two fathers from their families.
