It became public knowledge on Friday Night that the huge defenceman out of Calgary, Nikita Zadorov, had requested a trade. The former first round selection is no longer satisfied with the opportunity there and is looking for a change of scenery.

A POSSIBLE FIT IN VANCOUVER?

The Canucks have not hidden their will to upgrade their defensive group and Zadorov has, for a long-time, been a target of theirs. 6'06'' and almost 250 pounds, he's a tough guy to play against and the dream of any team looking to make a deep playoff run.

Not only was it leaked that his two preffered destination we're Toronto and Vancouver, but his price tag was also revealed. Trade a little over a year ago, the defenceman then fetched a 3rd Round Draft pick, but it now appears that the Flames would like to add a couple of draft picks or a prospect.

Obviously, the idea of trading away top end prospects such as Tom Willander, Jonathan Lekkerimaki, Hunter Brzustewicz, Aatu Raty have to be crossed. However, could a player like Sawyer Mynio or Joni Jurmo be of interest for the Flames?

Zadorov is on an expiring $3.75M deal, teams looking to add him most likely won't have the room to add him unless some money is moved (The Canucks sure can't do it). Will the Flames retain? Will they take another contract in return? There are still lots of work to do, but it seems that some of the ground work has already been completed.
