LATEST | Radko Gudas take shots at Canadian teams after receiving offers in free agency
Former Florida Panthers defenceman Radko Gudas played a key role defensively to help his team reach the Stanley Cup Final back in June, but ultimately, they fell to the Vegas Golden Knights.
There was plenty of interest in the Czech defenceman before he signed with the Anaheim Ducks for three years, including offers from a trio of Canadian teams - Calgary, Edmonton and Toronto.
Gudas recently had an interview with a Czech-based media outlet, Denik Sport, and said that he didn't want to play in Canada due to the pressure for playing for a franchise north of the border.
He went on to say that in the second round against the Maple Leafs, he could feel the media pressure in Toronto, despite being on the other side of the battle.
The 33-year-old appeared in 72 games this past season for the Panthers where he had 17 points, 79 penalty minutes and was a plus-14. Gudas went on to add three assists and 34 penalty minutes in 21 Stanley Cup Playoff games.
