BREAKING | Forward placed on waivers for purpose of contract termination
It looks like we'll have to wait a little longer to see another British player take to the ice in the National Hockey League.
On Wednesday, Craig Morgan of PHNX Sports shared that the Arizona Coyotes have placed forward prospect Liam Kirk on unconditional waivers for the purpose of terminating his contract.
"Per source, the Coyotes have placed F Liam Kirk on unconditional waivers. It was a good story while it lasted but Kirk's time in AZ is over." Morgan said.
Kirk, 23, was selected in the seventh round, 189th overall by the Arizona Coyotes back in 2018, becoming the first-born and trained player ever drafted out of England.
Last season, the Rotherham, England native spent time in the AHL and ECHL before being loaned to Jukurit in Finland's top division, Liiga, where he put up 19 points (seven goals, 12 assists), 12 penalty minutes and was a plus-five in 25 games.
