LATEST | Arizona Coyotes expected to sign top prospect in major turn of events
Just a couple months ago, Arizona Coyotes top prospect Logan Cooley was expected to return to the University of Minnesota for a second season, which caused some concern as he was supposed to turn pro following his freshman year.
It was reported that if the Coyotes' arena vote in Tempe got the green light, Cooley would sign his entry-level contract. Unfortunately for the Coyotes, the vote in Tempe didn't go in their favour, which was a big factor into his decision to return to Minnesota for a second season.
But in a major turn of events, it appears that the Coyotes are going to announce the signing of Logan Cooley to an entry-level contract on Wednesday.
The Coyotes' Twitter account made a pretty ominous post, which talked about the heat in Arizona, but featured the word 'cooling' and Cooley's number 92.
"It's sunny with a chance of 92 today. Don't you love when it starts cooling down here?" The Coyotes said.
Cooley, a native of Pittsburgh, had a strong 2022-23 season in the NCAA and on the international stage. In 39 games for the University of Minnesota, he recorded 60 points (22 goals, 38 assists), 42 penalty minutes and was a plus-38. He also played for the United States at the 2023 World Juniors, putting up 14 points in seven games.
