It's confirmed for Martin Necas: He's on the move
Carolina Hurricanes star forward Martin Necas has been amid many trade speculations since the team was bounced from the playoffs in the second round by the New York Rangers.
Necas, reportedly unhappy with his playing time, recorded 53 points for the Hurricanes this season after putting up a career-best 71 in 2022-23. He is below Sebastian Aho, Andrei Svechnikov, and Seth Jarvis on the team's depth chart.
Despite a dip in production this season, Carolina seems to be set on selling Necas as a legitimate star and will not be taking any discounts:
Carolina is letting people know that they consider Necas a budding star, and that's the kind of return they want.
According to Elliotte Friedman, a first-round pick and a decent prospect are not going to be enough to close a dealNecas clearly comes with an expensive price tag. The 2017 first-round pick will likely wear a different uniform on the opening night of the 2024-25 season.
The Canucks certainly have the necessary picks and prospects to facilitate a potential Necas trade, though it remains to be seen if the team is willing to give up enough for the budding star.
