The Canucks have not been hiding from the fact that they've been working the phones in hopes of completing a trade that would potentially improve their defensive core, especially now that Carson Soucy may be out of business for the next little while.
The Daily Faceoffs, Frank Seravalli was on Sekeres and Price today and talked about the Canucks' trade rumour and revealed that Anthony Beauvilier was the player the Canucks are trying to trade first. Despite Garland's request, moving Beauvilier is in the Canucks' best interest and he explained why:
It's become clear that Anthony Beauvilier is the asset the Canucks are trying to move. The winger's been down on the team's 4th line and Conor Garland has been an absolute menace for the Canucks recently. Beauvilier is on an expiring $4.15M deal and the Canucks shouldn't have to pay any assets to get him off their books.
We'll have to wait and see how that unfolds, but clearly, the Canucks can't move until one of them is out of town due to salarial cap restraints.
