In the middle of the summer and free agency frenzy is just about done. Journalists have started reminiscing about the past and signings that aged badly.

Rob Williams, from the Daily Hive, identified in a recent article, the Canucks' worst free agent signings. A wild period where team's tend to overpay for a player's services can often handcuff teams for years to come.
At 3rd, the journalist listed the Tyler Myers deal. A signing that haunts the Canucks up to this day is one of Jim Benning's massive mistake. Inked to a 5-year and $30M contract, the tall defenseman is entering the last year of his deal and will most likely not be on the Canucks' roster by the deadline.
2nd, sits Loui Eriksson. The winger was inked to a $6M x 6 years deal way back and was part of one of the team's worst ever trade. Benning tried dumping him to the Coyotes as part of the infamous Oliver Ekman-Larsson deal that's about to cost a massive chunk of money for the next 8 years.
On top of the list, viewed as one of the game's best leader, the deal that brought Mark Messier to Vancouver. Back in those times, Messier was inked to a 3-years, $20M deal which equals to $34.6M in today's money. Messier was 34-years-old when he signed with the Canucks.
The Canucks made 3 important signing as of now in this year's market. Carson Soucy was the only player to ink a multi-year deal with a $3.25M AAV. Allvin's cautiousness is bound to pay big when comes the time to extend the higher profile players such as Elias Pettersson, Andrei Kuzmenko and Brock Boeser.
