Vancouver Canucks forward Brock Boeser reportedly turned down a big offer from another Canadian club when the NHL's free agent market opened on Tuesday morning.

Despite reports that his time reports that his time with the Vancouver Canucks was over, General Manager Patrik Allvin was able to get a deal done with the team's biggest unrestricted free agent in a number of years - Brock Boeser.
Just after 9 am PT on Tuesday, the Vancouver Canucks announced that they've agreed to terms on a seven-year contract worth $50.75 million US ($7.25 million AAV) with forward Brock Boeser.
"Brock Boeser signs a seven-year extension with #canucks carrying a $7.25M AAV" Chris Johnston of TSN said.

Vancouver Canucks' Brock Boeser turned down big offer from Canadian team

Heading into July 1st, there was a ton of teams vying for Brock Boeser's services, understandably given how he's played over the last two seasons, but it looks like a fellow Canadian team put in a very competitive offer for the 28-year-old winger.
In a recent article on the Toronto Star, former NHLer-turned-insider Nick Kypreos shared that the Toronto Maple Leafs made an offer to Brock Boeser and his camp with an annual salary that was higher $7.25 million the Canucks gave him, however the term on the contract was less than what he got in Vancouver.
"The word is that the Leafs may have offered a higher annual salary than the $7.25 million (U.S.) that he took to stay with the Vancouver Canucks, but on a much shorter-term deal than the seven years he agreed to," Kypreos said.

The Toronto Maple Leafs haven't had the greatest start to the NHL's free agency period as they lost Mitch Marner through a sign-and-trade with the Vegas Golden Knights, landing Nicolas Roy in return and so far, have only signed some depth pieces such as Michael Pezzetta, Travis Boyd and Vinni Lettieri.
Toronto certainly wasn't the only team in pursuit of Brock Boeser on the morning of Canada Day, with Rick Dhaliwal of Donnie & Dhali reporting on Wednesday that the Burnsville, Minnesota native had five serious offers from clubs around the NHL.
"Brock had options. I've been told that he had five serious offers on the table. They [Boeser and his camp] were going down the pathway of cutting a deal with another team. Then, out of the blue, the Canucks call with one hour to go in free agency." Dhaliwal said.
For a team that struggled to score last season, finishing 24th in the entire National Hockey League with 236 goals, the Vancouver Canucks couldn't afford to lose Brock Boeser in free agency as he's been a big contributor to the team's offence over the last two years.
Thankfully for the Vancouver Canucks organization and the team's fan base, Brock Boeser is locked up long-term and will continue to be a big piece of the roster for the next seven years.
