The Vancouver Canucks organization announced on Tuesday afternoon the signing of a former NCAA forward & British Columbia native for the 2025-26 season.

It was a busy summer for the Vancouver Canucks organization as the big club made some sizable additions to their lineup, most notably Evander Kane, who they landed in a trade with the Edmonton Oilers, while their ECHL affiliate, the Kalamazoo Wings, have announced a ton of signings in recent weeks, headlined by two-time Kelly Cup champion Todd Skirving.
Meanwhile, the American Hockey League's Abbotsford Canucks - who are coming off their first-ever Calder Cup championship - were the quietest of the three teams in the offseason, however, General Manager Ryan Johnson did make an addition to the club's roster on Tuesday, bringing a five-year NCAA veteran into the fold.

As the Abbotsford Canucks prepare for their first game of the 2025-26 season, which is set for Friday against the Henderson Silver Knights, the club has announced that they've signed forward Nick Poisson to a one-year deal.
Abbotsford Canucks GM & Vancouver Canucks Assistant GM Ryan Johnson confirmed after the signing of Poisson that he has been loaned to the Kalamazoo Wings for the start of the new season.
"Abbotsford Canucks General Manager, Ryan Johnson, announced today that the club has signed forward Nick Poisson to a one-year contract ahead of the 2025-26 AHL season." the team said in a press release.

They added, "Ryan Johnson also announced today that Poisson has been loaned to Abbotsford's ECHL affiliate Kalamazoo Wings."

Poisson, a native of Vancouver, British Columbia, spent two seasons in the BCHL with the Prince George Spruce Kings, winning the Doyle Cup as league champions in 2019.
After the 2018-19 season, Poisson headed south to the United States where he went on to suit up for Providence College in the NCAA for five seasons, wearing the 'C' during the 2024-25 campaign.
The 24-year-old winger finished his collegiate career with 109 points (42 goals, 67 assists), 94 penalty minutes and was a plus-29 in 170 games with Providence College.
Poisson is expected to make his professional debut this weekend when the Kalamazoo Wings open up the 2025-26 campaign with back-to-back games against the Toledo Walleye.
