The Vancouver Canucks have announced an injury update on defenseman Pierre-Olivier Joseph ahead of the start of the National Hockey League's 2025-26 season.

The 2025-26 season is officially upon us, with the Vancouver Canucks opening up their schedule on home ice on Thursday as they welcome the Calgary Flames to Rogers Arena.
Ahead of Monday's 2 p.m. PT deadline, the Canucks unveiled their opening night roster, which included a handful of new faces including defenseman Pierre-Olivier Joseph, but it looks like fans will have to wait a little while longer before they can see the former first round pick in a regular season game with the club.

Vancouver Canucks issue injury update on defenseman Pierre-Olivier Joseph

Shortly before 10 a.m., the Vancouver Canucks took to social media to announce that defenseman Pierre-Olivier Joseph has been placed on injured reserve, retroactive to Tuesday, September 30th.
"General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that D Pierre-Olivier Joseph has been placed on retroactive IR (retroactive to Sep. 30)." the Canucks said.
Joseph, a native of Laval, Quebec, signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Canucks at the beginning of July after spending the previous season with the Pittsburgh Penguins and the St. Louis Blues.
The 26-year-old said that accepting Vancouver's contract offer was an easy decision and his goal was to go into training camp looking to prove to Adam Foote and his staff that he belonged in the NHL to start the season.
"You want to make the best decision for yourself, and I just thought this was a good fit. When they offer you a contract like that, you can't really argue with them. I just had to say yes. Now it's time for camp, and I want to show them that they made a good choice." Joseph said.

With Pierre-Olivier Joseph on injured reserve, the Vancouver Canucks called up defenseman Victor Mancini this morning to fill his spot on the opening night roster, with the Hancock, Michigan in contention to appear in the lineup on Thursday night.
