A former NHLer believes that forward Filip Chytil may need to adjust how he plays heading into his first full season as a member of the Vancouver Canucks.

With exactly two weeks to go until the Vancouver Canucks open up the 2025-26 season against the Calgary Flames, the team's coaching staff is getting a good look at what Filip Chytil is capable of in an expanded role through two postseason contests thus far.
Chytil is set to start the 2025-26 season as Vancouver's second line center after Patrik Allvin and the team's management group were unable to find a 2C on the free agent and trade markets this summer.
As Chytil gets set for his first full season with the Vancouver Canucks after being acquired from the New York Rangers in January, one former NHLer believes he may have to adjust how he plays given how the Vancouver Canucks' lineup will take shape.

Former NHLer believes Filip Chytil may have to adjust how he plays this season

During a recent appearance on Sekeres & Price former NHL defenseman & current TSN analyst Frank Corrado said that Filip Chytil might have to be more of a distributor/playmaker for the Vancouver Canucks this season.
"Listen, I think he's got good hands and he's got good vision and he makes nice plays with the puck. From what I've seen of Filip Chytil's game, especially when he's been healthy and been at his best, there's a passing element there that I think sometimes can catch people by surprise. So yeah, I do believe there's a good distribution aspect to his game." Corrado said.
While Filip Chytil doesn't seem like the type of player that would take issue to a change in his role or what the Canucks want from him this season, he did share this summer that he was working on his shot, especially his one-timers, as he looks to get above the 20-goal mark for the second time in his career.
"I love to score goals and I know I can score a lot more than I'm scoring now, or even what my best season was. So we're working with my skill coach around the net a lot. Working on my shot. Working on one-timers. This is the thing that I'm working on the most. Of course we're working on my edges - doing puck-handling. The thing I love the most is just shooting. I know there is so much room what to work on and so much room how to get better. Even the top players work on their shot all the time. I love to score goals and I need to score more." Chytil said.

Regardless of what role Filip Chytil is going to play this year, everyone is glad that he's back at 100 percent health and will be able to contribute as the Vancouver Canucks look to put last season in the rearview mirror and return to the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
