Foote vs. Tocchet: New Head Coach Sets a Different Tone When Dealing with Issues Surrounding Elias Pettersson

First time NHL Head Coach and recent hire of the Vancouver Canucks, Adam Foote has already made it clear that his direction with handling the tough situation of Elias Pettersson is different than that of Rick Tocchet.
Just last week, it was announced that Jack Adam's award winning head coach Rick Tocchet would be parting ways with the organization to explore his options in the NHL.
As everyone knew, he was the hottest coaching commodity on the market with several teams lining up to snag him up.
He ultimately went back to his roots and joined the Philadelphia Flyers on a 5-year, $25 million dollar deal.
New Head Coach Adam Foote positive he can turn Elias Pettersson around
Although a coach with a lot to offer, the fit was not right in Vancouver, and one area of concern was his inability to handle and coach star forward Elias Pettersson.
His coaching style did not translate in a way that was conducive to EP40 excelling as a player, and new head coach Adam Foote already made it clear he will be handling it differently.
Right if the bat, he approached the question of Pettersson with all positivity, something that was seriously lacking under Tocchet.
Adam Foote made a point of showing positivity towards Elias Pettersson, which was sorely missed from Tocchet and management this past season.
There has been a lot of discourse surrounding if Adam Foote is the right choice to this team and if he will be different enough to the style of Tocchet.
But by his comments in the media, it appears his is making an effort to discredit those rumours.
Only time will tell if it was the right choice..
