The Vancouver Canucks made a big splash on the free agent market on July 1st when they signed forward Jake DeBrusk to a seven-year contract worth $5.5 million per season.
Jake's father Louie DeBrusk, a former NHLer and now a colour commentator for Sportsnet, spoke highly of his son in a recent interview with Ben Kuzma of The Province. Louie said that his son is not easy to play against, works hard and can play in all situations, but will also be a finisher for the Vancouver Canucks. Jake DeBrusk has three 25+ goal seasons under his belt through seven seasons in the National Hockey League and is poised to light the lamp alongside Elias Pettersson, who he'll likely start the year on a line with.
Louie DeBrusk went on to say that Jake is super pumped to be joining the Vancouver and believes that this will be a great fit for his son with the direction the team is heading in.
Canucks fans will get their first official look at Jake DeBrusk on the ice starting next week at training camp and could see him in game action as early as Tuesday, September 24th against the Seattle Kraken.
