A former Vancouver Canucks fan favorite, who spent parts of five seasons with the club, has emerged as a potential PTO option for the club in the coming weeks.

Now that we've entered the month of September, we're only a matter of weeks away from game action, with the Vancouver Canucks set to open up their preseason schedule on Sunday the 21st against their Pacific Northwest rivals, the Seattle Kraken.
But before we get to puck drop, the team will need to kick off training camp in Penticton, with some interest roster battles to keep an eye on, primarily in the bottom-six and it could get even more intriguing if Patrik Allvin dips into the free agent market and brings someone in on a professional tryout (PTO).

The free agent market might be pretty thin, but there are still a handful of quality names still available, among them being forward Jack Roslovic, who the club has been linked to in the past, are no longer interest in as of two weeks ago.
Other forwards that are still available include Klim Kostin, Robby Fabbri, Andreas Athanasiou and Conor Sheary, but one name to potentially keep an eye on in the coming weeks, if Vancouver does indeed go down the PTO route, is someone Canucks fans are very familiar with - Tyler Motte.
In a recent article for Canucks Army, Tyson Cole suggests that Tyler Motte, who appeared in 196 games for the club over parts of five seasons, could be a PTO target for Patrik Allvin and given the departure of Pius Suter to the St. Louis Blues on the first day of free agency, who played a big role on the penalty kill, the 30-year-old could come in and fill that gap.
"Last season, Motte played just 55 games with the Red Wings, scoring four goals and nine points. However, he still averaged 1:38 minutes of penalty killing time, which could be beneficial for the Canucks following Pius Suter leaving in free agency." Cole said.

The St. Clair, Michigan native's versatility is also something that could be very attractive to the Vancouver Canucks as he's able to play down the middle and on either way, along with, as mentioned, the penalty kill, so we'll have to wait and see if Patrik Allvin is able to sign him to a PTO ahead of training camp, which begins on September 18th.
