Former Vancouver Canucks forward Pius Suter has found his new home in the National Hockey League on the second day of the free agency period.

Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin was able to find a way to keep Brock Boeser around long-term on a seven-year contract on Tuesday morning to avoid him from leaving the club as an unrestricted free agent.
While Patrik Allvin would've wanted to keep Swiss centerman Pius Suter around too, given the team's no-so-great depth down the middle, it looks like the Zurich native has found his new home in the National Hockey League.

On Wednesday afternoon, day two of the National Hockey League's free agency window, insider Rick Dhaliwal of Donnie & Dhali reported on social media that Pius Suter was close to signing a contract, however it isn't be a return to the Vancouver Canucks.
"Believe Pius Suter closing in on a team, not the Canucks." Dhaliwal said.
According to NHL insider Frank Seravalli, the St. Louis Blues have agreed to terms on a two-year contract worth $8 million US ($4 million AAV). with unrestricted free agent forward Pius Suter.
"Hearing Pius Suter is joining #stlblues: 2 years x $4 million." Seravalli said.
Suter, 29, joined the Vancouver Canucks organization as an unrestricted free agent in August 2023, signing a two-year deal with the club and has been a reliable middle-six centerman over the last couple of seasons.
The 2024-25 campaign was a career-year for Suter as he registered 46 points (25 goals, 21 assists), 18 penalty minutes and was a plus-two in 81 games for the Canucks.
Last week, the Vancouver Canucks reportedly circled back on Pius Suter to discuss a potential contract, however Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported that he was seeking $4.5 million AAV on his next deal, which was a bit further than where Patrik Allvin was willing to go.
""Elliotte Friedman: Pius Suter thinks he can get $4.5 per on the open market; I'm still not convinced Vancouver are comfortable with the number - SN 590" NHL Rumour Report said on X."

It's a bit of a surprise to see that Pius Suter signed for less than what he was seeking, albeit only $500,000 per year, especially since he was one of the top centers available on the free agent market.
