Former Vancouver Canucks forward signs with new European team after mutual contract termination

In a press release on their team website on Wednesday, Slovak Extraliga club HKM Zvolen announced that they've mutually agreed to terminate their contract with former Vancouver Canucks forward Jayce Hawryluk.
Note: the following is translated from Slovak

"After a mutual agreement between the management, coaches and the player, the cooperation with Canadian forward Jayce Hawryluk was terminated. On the other hand, Matúš Bodnár is coming for a trial.

Even before the start of the new Tipsport League season, there were changes in the HKM Zvolen team's player roster, and by mutual agreement, Jayce Hawryluk will no longer wear the Zvolen jersey." the club said.

Not long after HKM Zvolen made the contract termination official, the former Canuck found a new home for the 2025-26 season, signing a one-year deal with EHC Olten, who play in Switzerland's second division - Swiss League.
"I've known Jayce since his junior days and I'm convinced that his skills and robust playing style will enable him to play a key role in our team. He is versatile, can also play on the wing and quickly adapts to new systems. We are delighted that this signing has come to fruition." EHC Olten Sports Director Thomas Roost said on Wednesday, which was translated by DeepL.

Hawryluk is set to travel to Switzerland on Thursday and is awaiting his work permit, with an EHC Olten debut on Saturday against HC Thurgau or Tuesday against HC Sierre possible.
The Yorkton, Saskatchewan native spent one season with the Vancouver Canucks - 2020-21 - where he appeared in 30 games, registering five points (two goals, three assists), nine penalty minutes and was a minus-seven.
