A former Vancouver Canucks forward is surprisingly among the highest paid players in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) for the upcoming 2025-26 season.
Welcome to September, where hockey season is only a matter of weeks away and Vancouver Canucks fans are getting ever so close to seeing their team back in action after a very long offseason.
For some former members of the Vancouver Canucks, they'll be beginning their seasons overseas in Europe a bit earlier than the NHL,
such as the KHL, which is set to drop the puck on their new campaign on Friday.
The Canucks will be well represented in the KHL for the 2025-26 season as a number of their former players put pen-to-paper on contract for this year, one of whom is surprisingly among the highest paid players in the league.

Sprong, 28,
signed a one-year deal with the Canucks last summer, but his time in Vancouver didn't last that long as he was dealt to the Seattle Kraken after just nine games in British Columbia.
The Amsterdam, Netherlands native would go on to suit up in 30 games last season with Vancouver, Seattle and New Jersey where he registered seven points (two goals, five assists), two penalty minutes and was a minus-one.
"CSKA has signed a contract with forward Daniel Sprong. The agreement is for one year, until the end of the 2025/26 season." CSKA Moscow said."
Sprong and CSKA Moscow are set to open the 2025-26 KHL season on Saturday against their intracity rivals, Dynamo Moscow.
