During the most recent edition of the 'Halford and Brough' podcast, the duo talked about the fact that Mikheyev isn't a top-six forward and is better off playing in the bottom-six, which is a role that he had with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Halford and Brough said that others in the lineup, including Nils Hoglander, could move into Mikheyev's current spot.
So far this season, Mikheyev has appeared in 49 games where he's put up 24 points (ten goals, 14 assists), four penalty minutes and is a plus-one.
The ideal scenario for the Canucks would be to have Ilya Mikheyev playing in a bottom-six role, where there isn't a whole lot of pressure on him to produce. He should also be able to play on the team's penalty kill again.
