Multi-Piece Trade Proposal Emerges Between the Vancouver Canucks And Toronto Maple Leafs

A trade proposal has emerged that would see the Vancouver Canucks land a former fifth overall pick that could easily slot into the team's top-four on the blue line.
If an opportunity comes up between now and opening night to improve the roster, whether that be through trade, free agency or the waiver wire, there's no question that Patrik Allvin is going to consider it and recently, a proposal was pitched that would see the Canucks land a former fifth overall pick who's from Vancouver.
Trade proposal emerges sending former fifth overall pick to Vancouver Canucks
The Vancouver Canucks have a pretty solid defensive group as things stand heading into September, headlined by the top pairing of
Quinn Hughes and
Filip Hronek, along with young guys like Victor Mancini,
Elias Pettersson and
Tom Willander, all of whom will make a strong push in training camp for a spot on the opening night roster.
While the Vancouver Canucks don't necessarily need to add another defenseman to their team at this time, a trade proposal was suggested by Cole Shelton of Heavy.com that would see Patrik Allvin land Morgan Reilly from the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Reilly has five years remaining on his contract with a cap hit of $7.5 million USD, along with a full no-movement clause, so it would be up to him if he wants to waive it for a new opportunity, depending on which team is trying to acquire him.
"Rielly, 31, does have a full no-movement clause and hasn't made an indication he's willing to waive, so there would need to be a mutual understanding that a change of scenery is in everybody's best interests. I'd start with a team near his hometown like the Canucks." Kypreos said.
Shelton's full trade proposal sees the Vancouver Canucks acquire Morgan Reilly, Nick Robertson and a fourth round pick in the 2027 NHL Entry Draft - which Patrik Allvin already has three of - in exchange for centerman
Filip Chytil.
"The proposed deal would be an intriguing one, as Toronto would acquire Chytil to bolster its forward group in exchange for a fan-favorite defenseman, an NHL forward, and a mid-round pick.
In return, the Maple Leafs would give up Rielly as the big part of the deal. Rielly is from Vancouver, so perhaps he would waive his no-movement clause to go there. He'd bolster the Canucks blue line and add some offense to the back end." Shelton said.
While there's no doubt Morgan Reilly would be a good fit on the Vancouver Canucks blue line, Patrik Allvin isn't really in a position right now to be parting ways with any centermen on the roster, aside from maybe
Teddy Blueger to clear some additional cap space.
Right now, Filip Chytil is penciled in to take on the Vancouver Canucks' second line center role, at least to start the season, and Allvin is still trying to find a permanent solution for that spot on the roster, which would allow the Czech forward to slide down to the third line.
Trading Filip Chytil without having another centermen coming back in the same deal wouldn't make a whole lot of sense and would create an even bigger problem for the Vancouver Canucks down the middle.
