Vancouver Canucks star winger Jake DeBrusk was spotted in a trade worth thousands of dollars, but not with an NHL team, but involving some rare Pokémon cards.

Don't worry, Vancouver Canucks winger Jake DeBrusk didn't get traded, but he was involved in a major Pokémon trade at a recent Calgary card show.

After seven solid years with the Boston Bruins, Jake DeBrusk made the difficult decision to part ways with the organization for a new opportunity in a familiar city.
The 28-year-old decided that being closer to his family was the most important thing for him and subsequently signed a 7-year, $38.5 million contract on Jul 1, 2024, seeing him earn an AAV of $5.4 million, which expires after the 2030-31 season.

Vancouver Canucks' Jake DeBrusk involved in surprise trade, but it has nothing to do with hockey

Now nearing the end of the NHL offseason, the Vancouver Canucks have not managed to get done any big deals that have really upgraded their roster, .
The same thing cannot be said about winger Jake DeBrusk's Pokémon card collection.
At popular card shows, it is very common practice for vendors and traders to set up a camera in order to film the fun interactions they encounter in which they post on social media for some entertaining content.
The same thing happened at this years Overtime Card Show in Calgary, Alberta, where one familiar face was spotted making an expensive trade, and it is no other than Vancouver Canucks winger Jake DeBrusk.
Full Breakdown of the trade
According to the detective work of Vancouver is Awesome writer Daniel Wagner, he was able to break down just how much DeBrusk's dropped in this insane trade.
The trade includes a total of eight cards and a whole bunch of cash. There appear to be at least ten $100 bills on the table, along with a massive stack of $20 bills. From what I can tell, there are at least 25 bills, so that's at least $1500 in cash.

DeBrusk is getting two PSA-graded cards: a Pretend Team Skull Pikachu and a 1st Edition Neo Genesis Lugia Holo. The Pikachu card is a PSA 10, which means it's in flawless Gem Mint condition, while the Lugia is a PSA 7, which is Near Mint condition.

DeBrusk did quite well in this trade. He traded a little over $5000 in cards and cash and received two cards worth approximately $8000.

Canucks fans can breathe easy knowing that their shiny "new" winger is not heading to a new team, but instead going deeper into a niche hobby that is not too common within the hockey community.
