Some big news was announced on Friday morning that impacts the Vancouver Canucks' pursuit of Marco Rossi, someone they've been trying to get since June.

The Vancouver Canucks have been searching all summer for some help down the middle, whether that be through the free agent market with with names like Mikael Granlund and Christian Dvorak on July 1st, or through a trade.
Another name that has been on Vancouver's radar since the middle of June is Marco Rossi, who became a restricted free agent on Canada Day and with the two sides at odds over the details of his next contract, it led to rumors about his availability on the trade market.
Going back to mid-June, the Vancouver Canucks reportedly submitted a trade offer to the Wild for Marco Rossi, which included their 2025 first round pick and at least one other asset, but it was ultimately turned down and on Friday, we got an answer as to where the Austrian forward will be playing this coming season.

Minnesota Wild, Marco Rossi finally agree to terms on a new contract

Nearly three months after becoming a restricted free agent, the Minnesota Wild and Marco Rossi were able to find some common ground to keep him in The State of Hockey for the next few years.
In a social media post on Friday morning, NHL insider Frank Seravalli revealed that the Minnesota Wild have agreed to terms on a three-year contract worth $15 million USD ($5 million AAV) with forward Marco Rossi.
"Expecting Marco Rossi's bridge deal with #mnwild to come in at 3 years x $5 million flat. Nice compromise after an uncertain summer for Rossi in Minnesota." Seravalli said.
The news of Marco Rossi's deal with the Minnesota Wild comes one day after a report stated that the two sides were making progress on a new contract.
Now that Marco Rossi has inked a new deal to remain in Minnesota, the Canucks will have to pivot to another target if the club still wants to find a legit second line centerman ahead of the 2025-26 season, potentially Mason McTavish of the Anaheim Ducks, but it's going to be a steep price to try and bring him to Vancouver.
