Quinn Hughes addresses the Edmonton Media talks
Ever since the Canucks overcame the Predators in game six, there's been lots of talks in Edmonton addressing the Oilers' variety of strategies to beat the Canucks, their system and shutdown the NHL's best defenceman.
The Canucks beat the Oilers 4-0 in their season series, but Quinn Hughes says they're not taking them lightly heading into Round 2. The Canucks captain spoke to the media on Sunday and said it would be a series where both team's fans are hyper-invested in the outcome.
He says they'll need to tune out the noise and try to focus on getting the job done. After the Oilers' talk shows have made headlines disrespecting Hughes' season accomplishment, the Canucks captain showed his down-to-earth mentality when he share his approach to the Playoffs' second round:
It's two markets where hockey is so important to each city and the people; it will be a competitive series, I'm sure...Regarding players, we've got to worry about what we can control and what we need to do.
Hughes also reflected on their series victory over the Predators in the media scrum and commended rookie Arturs Silovs for his strong play in taking them through Round One.
Hughes and the Canucks will have their hands fcompletewith McDavid, Draisaitl and the rest of the Oilers high powered offence - but their captain says they're ready for the challenge.
