Quinn Hughes recently opened up about comments made by President of Hockey Operations Jim Rutherford at the team's season-ending press conference.

In the second half of April, just days after the Canucks' season came to a close, the team's President of Hockey Operations - Jim Rutherford, made some eye-opening comments about the future of his team's captain Quinn Hughes, saying that it might not come down to money or term with him as he's expressed a desire to play with his brothers Jack and Luke at some point in his career.
"It may not boil down to money with [Quinn]. He said before he wants to play with his brothers. That would be partly out of our control. In our control if we brought his brothers here." Rutherford said.

Understandably, Rutherford's comments caught the eye of everyone in the sport and for a good chunk of the summer, Hughes' future in Vancouver beyond the 2026-27 season was a hot topic and it heated up once again this week at the NHL's North American Players Media Tour in Las Vegas.

During the media tour this week, Jack Hughes of the New Jersey Devils commented about the possibility of playing alongside Quinn at some point, but the Canucks captain was was quick to cool things down a bit, saying to reporters "I mean, he's my brother. What's he supposed to say, first of all?"
"I mean, he's my brother. What's he supposed to say, first of all? 'Like, I don't want to play with him, you know?' ... I mean, we have contracts and whatnot. He's on a different team. Would it be fun to play with those guys at some point? Of course. I think if you guys have brothers, you guys would say the same thing. But we do have contracts. I'm excited to be in Vancouver, and I feel like last year was a little bit of failure. So I feel like I got things to do there. And I know Jack loves, he loves Jersey, and he's got stuff to do also." Hughes said.

He added, "That's him being authentic."

The Canucks captain was also asked for his thoughts on Jim Rutherford's comment back in April by ESPN's Greg Wyshynski and he wasn't really sure what to make of it, saying that he has a lot of respect for the team's President of Hockey Ops, but would leave it at that.
"I don't know Jim's a smart guy. Jim's doing, you know, what he wants to do. I've got a lot of respect for Jim, so I'll just leave it that." Hughes said.
With the new season just weeks away, there's only one way for the Vancouver Canucks to quell these rumors surrounding their best player and captain - get off to a hot start and don't look backwards, try your hardest to win 60-70% of your games in October and build off of that and hopefully by then, things will quiet down.
