On Monday's edition of Donnie & Dhali, Canucks insider Rick Dhaliwal shared that there were no contract talks over the weekend between Patrik Allvin and Nikita Zadorov's camp.
With no talks between the two sides, it seems that barring any last-minute offer, Nikita Zadorov will become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st, which won't make fans very happy.
Zadorov was solid during his time with the Vancouver Canucks and showed during the Stanley Cup Playoffs that he's capable of playing big minutes in high-pressure situations, something that will intrigue teams next Monday. Zadorov's play during the Stanley Cup Playoffs likely drove up his price to a point where the Canucks aren't comfortable going.
In 54 games during the regular season for the Vancouver Canucks, Zadorov had 14 points (five goals, nine assists), 102 penalty minutes and was a plus-six. The Moscow native added eight points (four goals, four assists), 26 penalty minutes and was a plus-three.
Patrik Allvin will have plenty of work to do this week and in free agency to add players to the Canucks' blue line, with Zadorov, Ian Cole and Tyler Myers all likely to hit the open market in one week. There will be some intriguing options for Allvin in free agency starting following Monday, including Travis Hamonic (who will reportedly have his contract bought out on Wednesday), Brady Skjei, Brendan Dillon, among others.
