Members of the Vancouver Canucks are opening up about the team's difficult start to the 2025-26 season as their dreams of making it to the playoffs are dwindling.
To say that Vancouver's season thus far has been disappointing would be an understatement as inconsistent play and
injuries issues up and down the lineup have caused the Canucks to fall to 14th in the Western Conference and 30th in the league's overall standings as of November 24th.
Vancouver's odds to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs
are falling by the day, with
MoneyPuck now giving the Canucks a better chance to land the first overall pick (10.3%) than they do to make the postseason (6.1%).
Their tough start to the 2025-26 campaign is starting to take a toll on several members of the roster, some of whom opened up about how they're feeling a little over a quarter of the way through Vancouver's schedule.

"It stings. All of us are competitors and we expect better results for all the work that we're putting in. We've got to continue to grind through it . . . get back to work tomorrow. It's a big road trip for us. I still think we've got a lot of good pieces in this room. We've just got to put it together on a consistent basis." Sherwood said to Sportsnet's Iain MacIntyre.
For Tyler Myers, he says that they need to step it up in the final 40 minutes as while they tend to start games well, they also get a bit sloppy in the second and third period, leading to countless losses, including their last three.
"Second and third, not our best hockey. And we have to look at it and we have to get better." Myers said.
He added, "You take a look at that Dallas game, I thought it was one of our better team games of the year. I thought we deserved more. And then we came out tonight . . . I thought we came out strong and then, for whatever reason, we just lost it. We have to address that, you know, figure out why and figure out ways to be more consistent and bring our best game each and every night."
It's not going to be an easy road trip for the Canucks but it'll help build character and show who this team truly is as three of the four teams they're set to face currently occupy playoff spots in the Western Conference, including the 16-1-5 Colorado Avalanche, while San Jose sits tied for the final Wild Card spot.
Things are going to need to turn around soon and in a big way for this Vancouver Canucks group if they want to keep their hopes of making the Stanley Cup Playoffs alive, with the all-important date of American Thanksgiving looming.
