Vancouver Canucks' Conor Garland Names Newborn Baby After His Captain - Or Did He?
Vancouver Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet has released the name of Conor Garland's baby boy, and people already have theories about the origin of the name.
There were talks all yesterday that there was a good chance that Conor Garland would not be suiting for the matchup with the New York Rangers as he and his wife are expecting their first baby.
With his wife Meghan laying in the hospital, Garland was given the go ahead to play.
It must have been good luck as Garland scored a goal in the loss to the Rangers.
It was a special moment as his longtime teammate and friend Dakota Joshua collected the puck for Garland to gift his baby.
Immediately after the conclusion of the game, Garland was rushed to the hospital to meet his wife who gave birth to their son shortly after.
Head coach Rick Tocchet confirmed that the baby was born when he spoke to media today after practice.
«Gars had a baby,» exclaimed the bench boss.
Conor Garland's baby name revealed
It was revealed today after practice by Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet that Conor Garland and his wife named their baby 'Quinton'.
Speculation starting growing as oddly enough, is the same name as Canucks Captain Quintin (Quinn) Hughes.
It was quickly confirmed by Tocchet that the name has no correlation to Hughes, as the inspiration of the name is after a character from the move Jaws.
The baby's name is inspired by Quint, a character in the movie Jaws. Garland has a huge interest in sharks and is a big fan of the movie, as he explained in a YouTube video posted not long ago by the team.
