A National Hockey League insider has revealed the specific injury that Vancouver Canucks netminder Thatcher Demko is dealing with after leaving Tuesday's game.

The Vancouver Canucks were hoping to wrap up their four-game homestand with a victory over the Winnipeg Jets, especially with Thatcher Demko returning to the crease after missing both games over the weekend for what the club called maintenance reasons.
Unfortunately for the Canucks, not only did they lose to the Jets, they also lost Thatcher Demko again as Finnish netminder Kevin Lankinen came in for him to start the second period after the San Diego native was in some discomfort during the opening frame.
"Goaltender Kevin Lankinen is now in net for the #Canucks.

Goaltender Thatcher Demko will not return to tonight's game." the Canucks said on X.

NHL insider reveals specific injury Thatcher Demko is dealing with

On Wednesday morning, NHL insider Frank Seravalli gave an update on Thatcher Demko, saying that he's hearing the Vancouver Canucks goaltender will be out for the next two-to-three weeks with a minor injury.
"Some (relatively) positive news for #Canucks on Thatcher Demko this morning. Early indication is that Demko is expected to miss 2-3 weeks with a minor injury.

It's unrelated to his previous knee injury and unrelated to why Demko took maintenance days last week." Seravalli said.

A short while after Seravalli's report, Rick Dhaliwal of Donnie & Dhali revealed said he's hearing Thatcher Demko is currently dealing with a groin injury and is continuing to be evaluated by the team's training & medical staff.
"Early word, it sounds like it's a groin injury for Demko." Dhaliwal said.
Losing Thatcher Demko for any period of time, whether it's a few days, a few weeks, a month, whatever it may be, hurts the Vancouver Canucks and their chances of returning to the Stanley Cup Playoffs significantly.
As we await official word from the Vancouver Canucks about Thatcher Demko's injury, timeline and if he's going to be placed on injured reserve, hypothetically speaking if he is out for the two-to-three weeks as Seravalli mentions, fans won't see the 29-year-old back in the crease until November 26th in Anaheim at the earliest or December 2nd in Colorado at the latest.
