Vancouver Prospect Doesn't Hold Back on Why He Won't Sign With the Canucks

Vancouver Canucks late-round draft pick and former forward prospect Lucas Forsell doesn't hold anything back detailing his account on why he and the organization will not come to an agreement on a contract.
It was reported early on Friday that the Vancouver Canucks have exactly until June 1st to get their ducks in a row and sign prospects like Lucas Forsell before losing rights, giving other teams the option to snag them up.

While they still have time to make a deal, the Canucks have made it clear that they will not be offering him a contract as they signed a similar player Anri Ravinskis to a three-year entry level contract on Thursday.
"General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that the #Canucks have agreed to terms with forward Anri Ravinskis on a two-year, entry-level contract starting in 2025.26." the Canucks said on X.
Lucas Forsell not signing with the organization does not come to a major surprise to fans or members of the media.
He is a 7th-round draft pick that has never played in North America and has yet to prove any offensive prowess even in Sweden, scoring just 8 goals and 8 assists in 92 games over the last two seasons.
Being a forward with no offensive production is not a way for an NHL club to want to re-sign you, which is clear when the Canucks refused to give the 21-year-old a contract.
Not to mention he also put pen to paper on a three-year extension with Färjestad in the SHL which showed his lack of commitment in trying to get into the Canucks affiliate system.
After that news broke, Forsell himself gave an interview detailing the exact reasons for the two camps could not come together on a contract.
While speaking to nwt.se, Forsell detailed why he would not be signing with the Canucks. Using Google Translate and the website hockeysverige.se, Forsell said, "I have spoken to my American agent. It didn't come as a shock, and it's not something I'm disappointed about. I will stay here in Färjestad. I haven't really focused on anything over there, but if it comes up, I want to feel like I have the confidence to actually take on a role. I don't want to go over "just because."
Cleary there is no intention on both sides to continue the relationship and we are sure the Canucks wish nothing but but the best for Forsell and his career.
