LATEST | Jets' top prospect stretchers off the ice after brutal hit
Winnipeg Jets fans had quite the scare on Friday night after one of their top prospects, Rutger McGroarty, was forced to leave his NCAA game on a stretcher.
During Friday's game for the University of Michigan, McGroarty took a shot on net and was hit a bit late and hit it back on the boards, which left him in considerable pain.
"Here's the hit that injured #NHLJets prospect Rutger McGroarty, who reportedly was stretchered off the ice. Hopefully was just precautionary."
"Now Rutger McGroarty down on the ice for Michigan. A truly horrible game for the Wolverines with now three forwards out with injury.
McGroarty straight to the stretcher. An awful sight to see"
Eventually, as mentioned, McGroarty was taken off the ice on a stretcher and at the time of writing this, there has yet to be an update from his team.
The 19-year-old has had a great season thus far for the Wolverines, putting up 18 points (six goals, 12 assists), zero penalty minutes and is a plus-six.
