Darnell Nurse and Nicolas Hague threw a fistfight in last night's meeting opposing their respective team:
The NHL automatically issued a one-game suspension to Darnell Nurse for instigating a fight during the game's last night five minutes. Which is, by definition, the correct call in the rulebook.
However, it's actually Mark Stone's comment after the game that's causing the controversy. The Knight's captain explicitely stated that Hague had asked Nurse to drop the gloves moments prior to puck drop.
How is that instigating a fight when you're only responding to invitation?
The trending belief regarding the subject is that the NHL is slowly making its way to the elimination of fighting in Hockey. Are we about to see the end of it?
