Hockey is known for its high level of intensity and competitiveness. When you mix high speed, contact, and testosterone.
Yesterday in the ECHL, known to be the AHL's lower level, the Wheeling Nailers were playing the Iowa Heartlanders. In a heated dispute which ended 4-3, things escalated rather quickly after the Heartlanders scored and the Nailer's player pushed the scoring forward into his own netminder, Brad Barone.
Barone was clearly rattled from the play and took his vengeance upon himself. He got straight up and offered the forward a two-handed slash right behind the knees:
The officiating caused quite the controversy since the Heartland's forward was awarded a 2-min penalty for goaltender interference while the Nailer's netminder was awarded a 4-min penalty (2 for slashing and 2 for leaving his crease).
Let's start the conversation, how many games should Barone be suspended for?
