Controversial offside call in OT causing consternation all over the league
The Oilers played the Blues last night and it was a tight match-up that provided us with an exciting 3 Vs. 3 extra period.
Though an offside call in the extra frame has been causing quite a consternation all around the league.
Connor McDavid, the NHL's leader in points, was definitely not happy with the way things played out. He stated a similar play in last year's playoffs where the goal was allowed. Now here's the play that was deemed on-side in last year's 2022 playoffs:
Here's another example of the play, which implicated the Caps and Evgeny Kuznetsov, where the play was also deemed on-side.
With all the controversy surrounding the off-sides call when the players are in control of the puck, should the NHL look at the possibility of clarifying the rule and not letting as much room for judgment?
