Former Canucks player makes harsh comment on the team's management
Former Canucks Jannik Hansen didn't mince his words when describing the Canucks handling of the situation.
Former teammate of Roberto Luongo and the Sedin twins, Hansen didn't hold back when he was asked to comment on the current Canucks situation. As we know, the Canucks have not been performing as well as expected especially after making great signings during the off-season.
Hansen did not mince his words and went straight to the point.
"You need roster changes especially on the back-end. They have money allcocated there, but the money isn't going far enough."
He was particularly hard on Tyler Myers and Oliver Ekman-Larsson who take 16.1% of the team's cap hit and are the 2nd and 3rd best paid defenseman, but aren't playing nearly good enough. For that $13M, he states that you should clearly had better players.
"Jim Rutherford has been out in the media, Bruce's been out in the media, there's only so many things you can do. But you need a change in directions here, because it's the same thing we are talking about, in the media, in the locker room. It's the same story, the locker room not policing themselves, not playing the proper way."
He added later:
"They keep coming back with same guys and expecting different results, it's the definition of insanity. It's too much in my opinion too, we've seen it too many times and it hurts cause there are some really quality pieces."
Hansen finished the interview around the fact that the Canucks failed to capitalize on the opportunity they've had for the last 2 years, where they've got both J.T. Miller and Bo Horvat playing at high levels while being on really low contract ($5.25M and $5.5M). They've failed to bring them the pieces on the back-end to complete this team.
Hansen believes that it'll be really hard moving forward when Miller and possibly Horvat's new deal kicks in. Moving forward, what do you think management should do with their money?
