Moving closer to the deadline, the Vancouver Canucks have the upper hand since they hold the hottest trade commodity in Bo Horvat. The Colorado Avalanche on the other hand will try and defend their title, but they still need a replacement for Nazem Kadri.

Kadri played an essential role in the Avs Cup run, he centered their second line and played a major role as the bumper on their first power play unit. Bo Horvat is looked at to be the perfect replacement, he's a great 200-foot player, excels as the bumper in Vancouver, and is one of the league's top faceoff guys.
Harman Dayal addressed the matter and made a trade proposal good enough to have the Canucks ship Horvat to Denver. According to his beliefs, if Colorado were confident in their chances of re-signing the Canucks' captain, they would consider both Alex Newhook and Bowen Byram.
The Canucks have already stated they required a young centerman and a right-handed defenseman. Newhook falls exactly in Rutherford's expectations. Byram is a left-handed shot, but his mobility and skating make him good enough to play on the right side.
Adding these two young guns would definitely accelerate the Canucks' retool. Though for this deal to happen Joe Sakic would require to talk with Horvat's camp to see if there was a possibility for an extension, should the Canucks consider it?
