LATEST | Big-bodied defenseman about to hit the market: Fits a lot of the Canucks' need
The Canucks have a big shopping list entering the draft and free agency. First, they'll need to shed some salary off the cap to gain some maneuverability. Once that problem is dealt with, expect them to be fairly active.
Big-bodied defenseman about to hit the market
Many have noted that Tocchet likes having big players in his lineup who offer similar attributes to Dakota Joshua. A defenseman is about to walk on the Devils, and he may just be what the Canucks need.
Ryan Graves, 28, a 6'5'' and 220 pounds defenseman, is about to part ways with the Devils, who he's been with for the past 2 seasons. A big-bodied blueline who excels in a shutdown road will be hitting free agency, according to the Devils reporter, James Nichols:
The Canucks had issues with the penalty this season. Graves excels in this part of the game. Once Luke Schenn left, there wasn't much grit on the back end, also a part of the game in which he excels. Graves could be an excellent partner to Filip Hronek and could play valuable top 4 minutes, perhaps a deal 3 or 4 year deal somewhere in the $4Ms could get it done?
