LATEST | Canucks make an announcement regarding their top prospect Jonathan Lekkerimaki
The Canucks have adopted lots of change in the past few years, and some will argue that the franchise is starting to take steps in the right direction.
Building Blue
The Canucks introduced today a new series highlighting the team's prospects in the midst of their development. Earlier today, they presented a video that put forward last year's first-round selection Jonathan Lekkerimakinarrated by the core member of the player development group: Mikael Samuelsson.
They described the progression he had over the year and pointed out the areas in his game that need improving:
''Introducing Building Blue our new series profiling #Canucks prospects leading up to the 2023 #NHLDraft and beyond.
Starting us off, our 15th overall pick in 2022, Jonathan Lekkerimäki!''
Lekkerimaki was described as an unpolished diamond, and the more he progresses, the more he draws comparisons to the Leafs' excellent Swede, William Nylander. It's very well known that Lekkerimaki's season did not go how anybody expected, but his strong performances during the playoffs showed a glimpse of what we hope to see in Vancouver in a few years.
The Canucks will be releasing more prospect reports later on, which will give you a great opportunity to learn about the team's top prospects.
