MAJOR | Tocchet gives his take on the Canucks next captain
The Captain talks in Vancouver have generated lots of discussions and it'll keep on going as long as they don't name Bo Horvat's successor. The Canucks have run with a group of four assistants ever since Horvat was traded away and we'll learn soon enough who will be taking the reigns.
Some say J.T. Miller should be the next team captain, others say Andrei Kuzmenko would be a really interesting choice, and we've even heard others state that the Canucks should re-sign Luke Schenn only to have him wear the 'C' until the team's core ages a little more.
To others, the recent surge of Elias Pettersson and Quinn Hughes makes them the obvious candidates. The two have taken charge this year, they spoke out when needed and they've been lights out on the ice. Rick Tocchet was on air late last night and revealed a crucial piece of information when he was asked about the team's next potential captain:
''A guy that's really stepped up for me is Huggy., I really like Huggy''
Based on the way they've developed, it seems that either one of Pettersson or Hughes would be a great pick for captainship.
From the Head Coach's perspective, Quinn Hughes has the whole package to wear the 'C' from his ability to speak when things are rough, his compete for level, and his ability to step it up when the stakes are high, he's got it all!
Dhaliwal also made an intriguing comment from information he received from within the team's inner-circle, has Tocchet revealed the next captain's identity?
