The tragic deaths of Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew Gaudreau have left the community in deep sorrow. These two young men, full of life and promise, were preparing to celebrate their sister's wedding-a joyous occasion that has now turned into a heartbreaking tragedy.
In the wake of this unimaginable loss, it has been confirmed that Katie Gaudreau and her fiancé, Devin Joyce, have cancelled their wedding, which was scheduled to take place this Friday at St. Mary Parish in Gloucester City, New Jersey. The devastating incident, caused by an alleged drunk driver, has left the family and the broader community in shock and grief.
Words cannot capture the depth of this loss, and our hearts go out to the Gaudreau family during this incredibly difficult time. The pain they are experiencing is unimaginable, and the entire hockey world is mourning alongside them.
Gaudreau's family issues first statement
People have generally respected the Gaudreau family's need for privacy during this unimaginably difficult time. However, the family has now shared a brief message with the public.
Jim Gaudreau shared the following message on behalf of the family:
«Last night, we lost two husbands, two fathers, two sons, two brothers, two sons-in-law, two uncles, two cousins, two family members, two teammates, two friends, but above all, two extraordinary human beings.
We want everyone to know that we receive your messages of love and support and that we appreciate your thoughts and prayers. We ask that you continue to respect our privacy during this very difficult period of mourning. From all of our families and from the bottom of our hearts (the Gaudreau, Morris, Korbitz, Venello, and Joyce families).»
