The Canucks lost a soldier midway through the battle when Thatcher Demko had to retreat with an injury with 34 minutes remaining in the game.

Some have identified this sequence as the moment when Demko felt he needed to get off:

Everybody has been holding their breath ever since, as Demko's been playing a massive part in the team's success. Casey DeSmith stepped in and held the fort while the Canucks still came away with a shoutout win.

Rick Tocchet updated on his star netminder's health following the game, and he didn't seem to be preoccupied, but Demko should be further evaluated on Sunday:

Tocchet re Demko, "I don't think it's serious, " and he hasn't spoken to the doctor.

One topic discussed during the media scrum was Demko's usage. Since the All-Star Break, Demko has been the starter in the vast majority of games and is on pace for a 60-game season.

Tocchet reassured and stated that DeSmith would be getting more starts during the season's last stretch in hopes of resting Demko ahead of the playoffs:

"The schedule sets up for that, and we're confident in Casey... We're going to have to manage it There's a lot of time to get him some rest."

Hopefully, Demko's injury is only minor and will require a few treatment days. We'll keep you posted.
