LATEST | Canucks aiming for another physical Flames' defenceman
According to David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, the Calgary Flames are exploring trade options for defenceman Nikita Zadorov and one of the teams reportedly interested is the Vancouver Canucks.
"And let's add another name to that list gentlemen, Nikita Zadorov. He's got one year left on his contract, he's another name that is now out there. Calgary is exploring the the trade options with respect to Zadorov as well." Pagnotta said.
Later in a tweet, he added, "One down. X to go With Toffoli dealt, the #Flames continue talks on others. In addition to Backlund, Hanifin, Vladar, Lindholm (maybe) add Zadorov to the list. He's also out there, with Vancouver, Toronto and Florida among interested teams."
Zadorov, 28, is another big body that the Canucks could use on the blueline at 6'6", 248 pounds. He plays a heavy, physical game, but isn't afraid to jump into the play in the offensive zone and this past season, he set a new career-high in goals with 14, doubling his previous high set in back-to-back seasons, 2017-18 and 2018-19.
The Moscow native has one year remaining on his contract with an average annual value of $3.75. million and is set to become an unrestricted free agent in July 2024.
