Forward Brock Boeser set a Vancouver Canucks franchise record during Thursday night's season opening win over their Western Canadian rivals, the Calgary Flames.

Following Vancouver's final game of the 2024-25 season, rumors began to swirl about the future for forward Brock Boeser, who was set to become a restricted free agent on Canada Day.
Once the morning of July 1st rolled around and there was no deal with Brock Boeser, Vancouver Canucks fans were pretty disappointed, until at the last minute Patrik Allvin announced that they were able to agree to terms on a seven-year contract, keeping the Burnsville, Minnesota native in British Columbia until the summer of 2032.
"In my head, I think I was fully set on going somewhere else. And so I had kind of a list of teams in my head that I thought maybe would be good fits and and then I just still was kind of uneasy about everything. And then they called, and, you know, at the end of the day, I think my heart was still at Vancouver. I have so much faith in our team and the pieces that we have. And, you know, I think Adam Foote too. I think he's going to be a great head coach. So I think everything just lined up well. And I'm just super stoked to be back." Boeser said.

Vancouver Canucks' Brock Boeser sets franchise record in Thursday's win vs Calgary Flames

As Vancouver Canucks fans know, Brock Boeser has been outstanding in season openers throughout his career in the National Hockey League, so presumably, Thursday's contest would be a walk in the park for him.
Heading into Thursday, Sportsnet Stats shared that Boeser was one goal away from breaking the Vancouver Canucks' franchise record for most career goals in season openers, which he was tied with Markus Naslund for with eight tallies.
"Brock Boeser needs 1 goal to set the #Canucks record for career goals in season-openers.

He's currently tied with Markus Naslund with 8" Sportsnet Stats said.
With under three minutes remaining in the final frame and fans hoping to see him break the record, Brock Boeser found the back of the net on a perfect shot just inside the circle, extending Vancouver's lead to 5-1.
"Brock Boeser

Sets #Canucks franchise record with his 9th career goal in a season-opener" Sportsnet Stats shared.
The 2024-25 season was a down year for many on the Vancouver Canucks and while he managed to register 25 goals & 50 points, Boeser knows he can be a lot better, with his sights now set on his second career 40+ goal campaign.
