With a ton of question marks in the lineup and a lack of moves (trades, signings) made during the offseason, the team is still looking to make some big upgrades, especially at centre on the second line, but Filip Chytil is not going to let that happen.

As the NHL preseason is well underway and the Vancouver Canucks are looking to bounce back this season after failing to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs in 2024-25, and one big name they are relying on is Filip Chytil, who unfortunately had his season cut short due to a concussion.
"Canucks: Why heavy hit from former linemate Sunday was good news for Filip Chytil. «I'm not thinking about it (concussions) at all. I understand people are worried about it, but I know my body and what's going on.»

Even though reports indicated he was healthy, you never fully know until you take that first big hit to test how your body responds.
Luckily for Chytil and the Canucks fan base, it appears he really is back to full form as Scary Preseason Moment Ended Up Being Good News where he brushed off a big hit like it was nothing from his former teammate.
It raised concerns because Chytil has had five career concussions, including the latest on March 15 that ended his season. However, Chytil quickly sprang up and finished his shift and the game. He logged 19:52 and had flashes of dash and determination in the 5-3 setback that were as encouraging as surviving the big hit."-Ben Kuzma

Filip Chytil already proving to the Vancouver Canucks that they do not need to replace him

With all the rumours surrounding the Canucks being desperate to find an upgrade at center for the second line, the currently slotted player, Filip Chytil is showcasing to the Vancouver Canucks early in preseason that he is the man for the job.
His performance against the Calgary Flames on Wednesday really made that clear, recording a goal and an assists, highlighted by a fantastic cross-seam pass to Willander, who ripped a wrist shot past Ivan Prosvetov to open up the scoring.
Patience on the power play for 72. 🎯
There are obvious question marks on the second line, that is not disputed, and they are still likely to try and go out to find another centre, but what Chytil is doing right now is proving that it is not a desperate situation.
