Head Coach Adam Foote Completes Surprising Addition to the Vancouver Canucks' First Power Play Unit
Vancouver Canucks Head Coach Adam Foote has made a big addition to the team's first power play unit, giving fans a glimpse of what they may see to start the season.
The Vancouver Canucks'
training camp continues this week as the team prepares for their second game of the preseason this evening in Abbotsford against their Western Canadian rivals, the Calgary Flames.
Vancouver's goal this season is to make it back to the Stanley Cup Playoffs, there's no doubt about that, and if the club wants to ensure that becomes a reality, there are several areas of their game they need to improve on, including the power play.
Last season, Vancouver finished 16th in the National Hockey League
finished 16th in the National Hockey League with a power play percentage of 22.5, scoring 50 goals in 222 opportunity through 82 games and this year, they're certainly going to need to improve in that department.
Adam Foote makes big change to Vancouver Canucks first power play until during practice
During Tuesday's practice, the Vancouver Canucks worked on their special teams with Head Coach Adam Foote making a pretty significant change to the team's top power play until.
Kane, 34, knows how to put the puck in the back of the net as he's registered at least 20 goals in nine of his 16 seasons in the National Hockey League and should give the Canucks a bit of a boost both on the power play and at five-on-five.
"It's definitely cool to be able to put on the Canucks jersey as an NHL player. The excitement has kind of been a slow build since I've gotten traded. And I think it'll start bubbling once the first regular-season game is played."
Kane said to Izzy Cheung of The Hockey News earlier this week.
"PP units #Canucks
🥅
DeBrusk.
Kane. Boeser. EP40.
Hughes.
🥅
Sherwood.
Mynio. Lekkerimäki. Cootes.
Hronek." Batchelor said.
We'll have to wait and see if that top power play unit stays intact throughout the remainder of training camp, with Friday's home game at Rogers Arena against the Seattle Kraken likely being the first opportunity for fans to get a look.
