J.T. Miller's Personal Leave of Absence Sparks Wild Rumors Involving Wife Natalie Craig
After it was announced by Vancouver Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin that J.T. Miller would be taking a leave of absence from the team, rumors around his "personal reasons" have gotten out of control.
The news was not easy for fans to take in and digest, as J.T. Miller is one of, if not the most consistent and dominant forwards on team.
The news broke just a couple days after Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet benched him during the 3rd period of their matchup with the Nashville Predators.
Although it was confirmed the benching had nothing to do with his leave of absence, other external factors have caused fans to go wild with rumors.
Rumors about J.T. Miller's Wife Shutdown
First reported by Chris Johnston, when the announcement of Miller stepping away for personal reasons became public, his wife made the right choice to deactivate her social media, specifically, her Instagram.
But fans being fans, they immediately starting creating rumors rumors that were based on this move by his wife, but it really held no merit at all.
The unfounded rumors were rightfully and quickly shut down by Canucks reporter and insider Rick Dhaliwal.
Instead of rumors, he called for fans to give respect, privacy and understanding to J.T. Miller and his family.
Whenever there's a personal leave everybody jumps to conclusions. Alcohol, family related I get it. Everybody wants the juicy National Enquirer story. Everybody wants the sinister thing.
There is nothing sinister going on here. This is a player that needs a reset. Some time and space.
Remember the Corey Perry / Connor Bedard story and someone just threw it out and everybody believed it and it was a lie. What I've been told this morning is that he needs a reset. He just got benched.
He's had a tough year with injuries. He's in a Canadian market. He's got four days off before the next game, maybe it's just a reset for a player who needs some time and space.»
- Rick Dhaliwal Situations like this are extremely personal and private for a reason, and there is no reason and right to speculate on what the reasons are.
When a player takes a leave of absence from the team, there are a plethora reasons for why that may be, but it is not our job as reporters or fans to try and connect all of the dots.
It is best to allow the player and their families to have their privacy.
