Nikolay Goldobin was once a highly touted prospect in the Vancouver Canucks organization, and while he didn't have the success in Vancouver anyone hoped, his skill level has always been undeniable.

Initially drafted in the first round by San Jose, Goldobin was brought to Vancouver as the centrepiece of the Jannik Hansen deal.

Goldobin showed flashes of his skill and upside, highlighted by a 63 game season in the NHL where he scored 27 points, but returned to Russia during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 28 year old has been a steady contributor in the KHL since returning home, but has seen his offence explode this season playing for Moscow Spartak.

Goldobin is now rewriting the history books for Spartak, as with his 38th assist in the team's last game he set the record for assists in a season.

He's been a driving force for a strong Moscow Spartak team, and his offensive explosion is enough to have him 3rd in KHL scoring.
