A trade proposal has emerged this week that would see a Vancouver Canucks forward, who the club acquired this summer, join another Canadian team.

We're just days away from the start of September, which means that the new hockey season is right around the corner, with the Vancouver Canucks set to open training camp in less than three weeks.
Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin has made quite a few changes to the team's roster this summer, most notably completing a trade with the Edmonton Oilers that saw the club land gritty forward Evander Kane.
Kane enters the 2025-26 campaign with just one year remaining on his contract and while obviously the Vancouver Canucks are hoping to have success this season, if things go south, one reporter believes that he could return to the Oilers at the trade deadline and another recently shared a proposal that would see the 34-year-old join another Canadian team.

Trade proposal sees Vancouver Canucks forward join another Canadian team

In a recent article on Heavy.com, Caleb Kerney shared a trade proposal involving Vancouver Canucks forward Evander Kane and the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Kerney's mock trade sees the Maple Leafs acquire Evander Kane in exchange for forwards Max Domi, Calle Jarnkrok and prospect Eason Cowan, who is coming off back-to-back championships with the OHL's London Knights.
The mock trade would open up a roster spot for the Toronto Maple Leafs to add unrestricted free agent forward Jack Roslovic, Kerney believes, who is someone were linked to throughout the summer.
Heavy.com proposed a deal that would see the Maple Leafs acquire power forward Evander Kane from the Vancouver Canucks. This deal would open up a roster spot to sign their prized free agent, Jack Roslovic.

Maple Leafs Acquire:

- Evander Kane ($5.125 million)

Canucks Acquire:

- Max Domi ($3.75 million)
- Calle Jarnkrok ($2.1 million)
- Easton Cowan ($873,500)" Kerney said.

For a number of different reasons, it's very, very unlikely that a trade like the one proposed above would become a reality for the Vancouver Canucks and here's why.
Firstly, the Vancouver Canucks only acquired Evander Kane a little over two months ago and there's no chance that Patrik Allvin would move on from him this early, maybe ahead of the trade deadline if the season doesn't go as planned, but certainly not before he's even suited up in a game with his hometown club.
Secondly, Vancouver already has a logjam among their forward group as things stand right now, with five, maybe six players competing for a couple of spots in the bottom six and bringing in both Max Domi & Calle Jarnkrok would complicate things even further.
While Easton Cowan would be a great piece to add to the Vancouver Canucks' prospect pool, in the end, the odds of a deal like this, or similar to it, happening within the next few weeks is almost zero.
