In his first broadcast on Sportsnet and being the most recent Vancouver Canucks hire, longtime NHL defenseman Tyson Barrie wasted no time praising the talents of the young prospect Braeden Cootes.

With just under a week to go until the NHL regular season kicks off, the Vancouver Canucks still have a lot of work to do to get their roster at a place where they can compete for a Stanley Cup.
Although no huge splashes on the ice, the organization did make one big move, hiring veteran NHL defenseman Tyson Barrie to be apart of the Sportsnet broadcast crew.
"We are excited to welcome 14-year NHL veteran Tyson Barrie to the #Canucks regional home broadcasts on @Sportsnet for the 2025.26 season!" the Canucks said.

If any fan has been following the Canucks this preseason, it is clear to everyone that 2025 first-round draft pick Braeden Cootes is by far the biggest standout of camp.
With that, he is touted to become the first 18 year old to make the opening night roster in 30 years.
It appears that even the teams new hire Tyson Barrie agreed, giving big praise to the youngster in his first broadcast with Sportsnet.
"He's making a difference, and it's pretty impressive."

With another goal tonight against the Edmonton Oilers, Cootes is once again forcing the hand of general manager Patrik Allvin to keep him in the NHL to start the regular season on October 7th.
